About the role
The Lead Electronics Engineer will be a senior technical leader within the NPD Hardware Electronics team, shaping and delivering robust electronics solutions for new consumer appliance products in our New Category portfolio.
Key responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership to a team of Electronics Engineers, driving development and delivery of integrated electronics solutions across self‑developed and JDM modules.
- Lead design reviews, technical risk assessments and investigations, ensuring robust engineering decisions early in the project.
- Own development of power electronics, analogue/digital and microcontroller‑based circuits, including design, analysis, verification and validation.
- Set and uphold engineering standards covering performance, reliability, DFM, cost and compliance with IEC, UL and EMC regulations.
- Influence cross‑functional teams (Mechanical, Compliance, Software, Manufacturing, Test, JDM partners) to align requirements through to production.
- Ensure quality of deliverables such as schematics, PCB layouts, tolerance analyses, FMEAs and failure analysis reports.
- Provide technical leadership to suppliers and contract manufacturers to achieve production readiness and compliance.
- Coach and develop junior engineers, offering guidance and constructive challenge.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical, Electronics or Telecommunications Engineering.
- Minimum 8 years of electronics development experience with proven technical leadership.
- Strong analytical and decision‑making abilities, self‑motivation and accountability in a fast‑paced environment.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills, with experience influencing technical decisions.
- Experience leading JDM partners in the home‑appliance industry is strongly preferred.
Required skills
- Power electronics, motor drives, battery management, analogue and digital circuit design.
- Embedded microcontroller platforms (8‑bit, 16‑bit, ARM Cortex) and high‑speed circuit design.
- Simulation tools for design calculations and tolerance analysis.
- Use of laboratory test equipment (oscilloscope, spectrum analyser, AC/DC power sources, power meters).
- PCB schematic capture and layout software (Mentor Graphics).
- DFM, DFX, DFMEA methodologies and EMC troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of IEC, UL and EMC regulatory compliance.
