Customer Engineer (C1) – Field Service Role

About the role

As a Customer Engineer (C1) at Applied Materials you will act as the primary liaison with customers, installing, maintaining and upgrading advanced semiconductor equipment. The role combines hands‑on service, digital analytics for troubleshooting and close collaboration with senior engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with Senior Field Service Engineers to install, maintain and upgrade customer equipment.
• Use digital analytics tools to diagnose equipment issues.
• Apply basic diagnostic techniques and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic and gas systems.
• Coordinate directly with customers to ensure smooth operations and high‑quality service.
• Complete additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Associate degree, military technical training, field service experience or trade certification.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn electrical and mechanical schematics.
• Experience diagnosing and resolving basic technical challenges.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a passport for travel.
• Ability to meet on‑site safety, environmental and COVID‑19 requirements.

Required skills

• Digital multimeter operation.
• Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum systems and thermodynamics.
