Industrial Cost Engineer

About the role

The Industrial Cost Engineer will lead Design to Value analyses, translate technical specifications into cost structures, and drive cost‑improvement initiatives across product development. Working closely with procurement, engineering and industrial cost teams, the role ensures solutions meet financial and technical goals while delivering first‑time‑right outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and own Design to Value analysis, supporting project teams in converting specifications into part and product cost.
• Build and understand cost structures of design concepts, evaluate design options, and identify cost drivers.
• Analyze cost‑vs‑benefit for alternative scenarios and present results for material/component selection.
• Initiate, participate in, or lead cost‑improvement and DfX projects, focusing on OEM/ODM innovations and lifecycle value.
• Challenge development, procurement and factories during innovation to meet financial and technical targets.
• Set up profitability analysis for new innovation projects and explore alternative scenarios.
• Advise business teams on financial‑technical issues such as internal vs. external production, TCO analysis, and supplier selection.
• Create and share knowledge on local cost structures, cost drivers, market overviews and benchmarks.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Technology & Operations Management or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in cost engineering and value engineering, with deep understanding of commercial, technical and financial impacts in innovation projects.
