Gateway Operations Manager – Ocean Freight

About the role

The Gateway Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing daily Ocean Freight gateway activities, ensuring reliable capacity, cost control, service quality and compliance while coordinating with carriers, suppliers, internal teams and overseas stations.

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily OFR gateway operations, cargo flow, capacity and space allocation in line with product strategy and customer requirements.
• Coordinate with carriers, CFS agents, operations and overseas stations to ensure timely and accurate shipment handling.
• Negotiate contracts, monitor supplier performance against KPIs and ensure correct application of rates, routing and regulatory requirements.
• Handle operational irregularities, problem shipments and escalations with clear communication to stakeholders.
• Drive process improvement, productivity and service quality while adhering to ISO, compliance and internal control standards.
• Plan and organise team resources, set objectives and KPIs, coach team members and manage performance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in logistics/ocean freight operations, with team‑management experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of ocean freight gateway handling, carrier/supplier management, rate structures and cost control.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
