Executive Publisher

About the role

We are seeking an Executive Publisher to lead a portfolio of around 12 physics journals. The role combines strategic portfolio management, journal development, and partnership building across a global, matrixed organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Drive journal development by balancing portfolio stewardship with growth, positioning, and open‑access initiatives.
• Lead the identification, recruitment and appointment of editors, ensuring scientific strength, diversity and international representation.
• Develop and deepen strategic partnerships with learned societies, editorial boards, institutions and other key stakeholders.
• Represent the team externally at conferences, institutional visits and editorial meetings, fostering community engagement.
• Support regional growth, particularly in China and the broader Asia‑Pacific market, leveraging local networks and knowledge.
• Champion brand visibility and monitor competitive dynamics to enhance the portfolio’s reputation.

Required profile

• Senior publishing experience, preferably within scientific or physics journal portfolios.
• Proven track record of building and managing international editorial teams.
• Strong understanding of the academic publishing landscape and open‑access models.
• Experience working with Chinese research institutions or familiarity with the Asia‑Pacific academic environment.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
