Associate or Senior Editor – Geochemistry at Nature Communications

About the role

The role involves managing the editorial workflow for original research papers in solid Earth geochemistry published in Nature Communications. You will work closely with other editors, authors, and reviewers to ensure high‑quality scientific content reaches the journal’s audience.

Key responsibilities

• Handle manuscript selection, oversee peer review, and make well‑reasoned editorial decisions.
• Liaise with editors across the Nature portfolio and with experts in the international scientific community.
• Attend conferences and visit research institutions to stay abreast of developments and build relationships.
• Determine the representation of solid Earth geochemistry topics within the journal.

Required profile

• PhD (or equivalent) in geosciences with strong expertise in solid Earth geochemistry (e.g., tectonics, volcanology, economic geology, geochronology).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; fluency in written and spoken English.
• Ability to assess novelty, context, and implications of research across the discipline.
• Eagerness to travel and engage with scientists worldwide.
