Electrical Engineer - Semiconductor Equipment

About the role

KLA is looking for an Electrical Engineer to contribute to the design, development and testing of complex electrical systems for its advanced semiconductor manufacturing equipment. The role sits within the Semiconductor Products and Customers business unit, which supplies inspection, metrology and analytics systems to chip manufacturers, and works in a multidisciplinary team to ensure high performance, reliability and manufacturability of the products.

Key responsibilities

• Design, simulate and analyze analog and digital circuits, power distribution systems and control systems for high-precision equipment.
• Develop and implement test plans and procedures for electrical components and sub-assemblies.
• Troubleshoot and debug electrical hardware, identify root causes of failures and propose solutions.
• Select and evaluate electronic components based on performance, cost and availability.
• Collaborate with mechanical, software and optics engineers to integrate electrical designs into larger system architectures.
• Create and maintain schematics, PCB layouts, wiring diagrams and other design documentation.
• Take part in design reviews and support manufacturing and field service teams with electrical expertise.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Proven experience in analog and digital circuit design, simulation and testing.
• Experience in the semiconductor industry or with complex capital equipment is a plus.
• Minimum qualification: doctorate with 0 years of experience, master's with 3 years, or bachelor's with 5 years of related work experience.

Required skills

• Familiarity with PCB design tools such as Altium Designer and Cadence Allegro.
• Strong understanding of power electronics, power distribution and signal integrity.
• Experience with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers and multimeters.
• Proficiency in at least one scripting language such as Python or MATLAB for data analysis and automation.
