Director, Commercial Nutrition, China

About the role

Brenntag is looking for a Director, Commercial Nutrition for its China business. Working with the global and regional business unit strategy, the role defines and delivers the China sales strategy, drives profitable and sustainable top-line growth, manages and oversees the commercial teams and ensures continued business development.

Key responsibilities

• Define and deliver the China sales strategy, making sure it is communicated and executed by the commercial teams with measurable PPM/KPI outcomes
• Contribute to product development projects and ensure all business activities follow corporate guidelines
• Manage country financial performance, set sales targets and optimise margins through pricing review and guidance
• Lead the team in meeting budgeted sales and gross margin targets, reporting performance and variances to Regional
• Maintain involvement in industry bodies and exhibitions, and support the development of the Nutrition China team
• Analyse market and competitor activity, market trends, gaps and cross-selling opportunities, and oversee regional and local monthly reporting
• Support process improvements and non-conformance management, including reviewing Job 7's and reducing non-conformances
• Lead, recruit, retain and develop the commercial team, build a customer-centric culture and take part in the annual P&R process

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Chemistry or a related field; postgraduate qualifications preferred
• At least 15 years in commercial sales within a chemical or chemical distribution industry (raw ingredients) is advantageous
• Demonstrated managerial experience leading large commercial teams with proven sales results
• Experience leading change, improving engagement and delivering results

Required skills

• Working knowledge of SAP and MRP systems
• Excellent IT skills and practical knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
• Strong commercial acumen, leadership, negotiation, presentation and analytical skills
