Design Engineer

About the role

JBT Marel is seeking a Design Engineer to lead the localisation of equipment and aftermarket parts. The role combines form‑fit‑function analysis, value engineering and cross‑functional collaboration to optimise manufacturing for local markets.

Key responsibilities

• Develop concepts, test, investigate and verify designs for machinery, layouts, assemblies and components.
• Create and maintain assembly/detail drawings, part lists and BOMs to meet design requirements.
• Identify cost‑saving opportunities and drive Value Analysis and Value Engineering (VAVE) initiatives at the site level.
• Evaluate and qualify new suppliers in partnership with operations, aftermarket and global sourcing teams.
• Ensure parts localisation meets functional, reliability, safety, technology and cost criteria.
• Review, update and distribute technical documentation to customers, site supervisors and suppliers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience, preferably in production processes.
• Familiarity with food‑processing industry requirements.
• Proven ability to work in multicultural, multi‑disciplinary environments.
• Willingness to travel frequently to plant sites, suppliers and occasional international locations.
