Customer Engineer – CMP/EPI/Etch

About the role

As a Customer Engineer at Applied Materials you will act as the primary liaison with customers, installing, maintaining and upgrading semiconductor CMP/EPI/Etch equipment. You will use digital analytics and diagnostic techniques to troubleshoot and ensure optimal performance of complex systems.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain and upgrade customer equipment in semiconductor fabs.
• Apply basic diagnostic techniques and digital analytics to assess and resolve technical issues.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic and gas systems.
• Collaborate with senior engineers and customers to understand process roadmaps and business challenges.
• Train and mentor junior field service engineers.
• Coordinate directly with customers to ensure smooth operations and high‑quality service.

Required profile

• Associate degree, military technical training, field service experience or trade certification.
• 4‑7 years of experience in the semiconductor or equipment support industry.
• Advanced mechanical aptitude covering pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum and thermodynamics.
• Strong knowledge of hand tools and digital multimeters.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a passport for travel.
• Willingness to meet on‑site safety, environmental and COVID‑19 requirements.
