Customer Engineer (C1) – Field Service Role

About the role

As a Field Service Engineer (Customer Engineer) at Applied Materials, you act as the primary liaison with customers, installing, maintaining and upgrading advanced semiconductor equipment. You will use digital analytics and basic diagnostic techniques to troubleshoot and ensure optimal performance of the systems.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with Senior Field Service Engineers to install, maintain and upgrade customer equipment.
• Utilize digital analytics for troubleshooting and apply diagnostic techniques under guidance.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic and gas systems (training provided).
• Coordinate directly with customers to ensure smooth operations and high‑quality service.
• Fulfill additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Associate degree, military technical training, field service experience or trade certification.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn electrical and mechanical schematics.
• Experience diagnosing and resolving basic technical challenges.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a passport for travel.
