Buyer – Supply Chain Procurement

About the role

As a Buyer you will act as the key liaison between Hitachi Energy’s internal functions and external suppliers. You will support the procurement of high‑voltage products, ensuring cost‑effective sourcing, quality compliance and on‑time delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct supplier RFI, RFP and RFQ processes and manage delivery and quality performance.
• Negotiate prices, handle daily sourcing requests and manage contracts as a local category buyer.
• Collaborate with SQE and technical teams to improve supplier quality, meet KPI targets (OTD, OQD, cost saving, cost avoidance, payment terms, claims).
• Identify and drive second‑source projects together with R&D, technical and quality teams.
• Develop fulfillment strategies with key suppliers to achieve inventory excellence and supply‑chain efficiency.
• Support category manager in supplier qualification, PPAP, performance evaluation, annual bidding and resolution of urgent delivery or quality issues.
• Ensure compliance with all internal and external regulations, procedures and guidelines.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Commercial Engineering; overseas experience is a plus.
• More than 3 years of supply‑chain experience in a multinational environment.
• Proven ability in supply‑chain optimisation, independent project management and self‑motivation.
• Hands‑on experience with SAP system re‑engineering.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills across functions and cultures.
• Fluent spoken and written English.
