Associate or Senior Editor – Sustainable Materials Chemistry

About the role

Join the editorial team of a Nature Portfolio Open Access journal focused on sustainable chemistry. You will work with leading scientists to shape the content of a high‑impact journal covering materials chemistry and sustainable materials.

Key responsibilities

• Handle original research papers, select manuscripts and oversee peer review.
• Make well‑reasoned editorial decisions based on expert advice.
• Determine the representation of sustainable materials chemistry within the journal.
• Liaise with editors across the Nature family and with international scientific experts.
• Engage with the external editorial board, guide editors, and recruit/train new board members.
• Attend conferences and visit research institutions to promote the journal.
• Commission and edit review articles and write editorials.

Required profile

• PhD (or equivalent) in materials chemistry or a closely related field.
• Strong understanding of recent trends in sustainable materials chemistry.
• Passion for science and a broad interest in research beyond your specialty.
• Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
• Willingness to travel internationally to meet scientists and attend events.
