APAC Legal Counsel (4-7 years PQE)

About the role

We are looking for a commercially‑minded Legal Counsel to join our APAC Regional Headquarters in Shanghai. Reporting to the APAC Legal Director, you will provide independent legal support across commercial contracts, manufacturing operations, compliance, and dispute management for a global industrial manufacturer.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review, negotiate and advise on a wide range of commercial agreements across APAC.
• Provide day‑to‑day legal support to sales, procurement, supply‑chain and operations teams.
• Identify legal and commercial risks and propose pragmatic solutions.
• Support manufacturing and operational legal matters, including supplier management and operational risk assessment.
• Advise on employment‑related issues and coordinate with external counsel when needed.
• Assist regional compliance initiatives, corporate governance, entity management and corporate secretarial tasks.
• Conduct legal and compliance training for internal stakeholders.
• Manage commercial disputes, litigation, arbitration and coordinate external counsel across multiple jurisdictions.
• Monitor legal spend and evaluate external counsel performance.

Required profile

• LL.B. from a reputable university and PRC Legal Qualification Certificate.
• Overseas legal education (LL.M., J.D. or equivalent) is a plus.
• 4‑7 years post‑qualification experience in‑house (multinational) or private practice serving multinational clients.
• Experience in manufacturing, industrial, engineering, automotive, chemicals or related sectors is highly preferred.
