Scientific Editor for Newton Journal (Cell Press)

About the role

We are seeking a Scientific Editor to join the Newton editorial team, the flagship physics journal of Cell Press. The editor will help shape the journal’s content, build relationships with the global physics community, and ensure the publication of high‑impact research.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate submitted manuscripts and manage the peer‑review process through to acceptance.
• Commission, edit, and write review articles, editorials, and technical summaries.
• Travel to conferences and research institutions worldwide to represent the journal.
• Understand and respond to the needs of authors, readers, and reviewers.
• Collaborate with colleagues across Cell Press to support the broader physical‑sciences portfolio.

Required profile

• PhD in any area of fundamental or applied physics.
• Post‑doctoral experience is welcome but not mandatory.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Strong critical‑thinking ability and willingness to engage with diverse physics topics.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
