Associate Strategist

About the role

The Associate Strategist will support the investment team by providing deep macroeconomic insight, particularly focused on China, and translating that insight into actionable client deliverables. This role combines rigorous research, strategic communication, and client‑facing responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a deep, comprehensive understanding of the firm’s China macroeconomic outlook, systematic investment framework, and portfolio performance by collaborating closely with onshore investment teams.
• Lead the creation of sophisticated written and visual client deliverables, including macro outlook presentations, bespoke research projects, market commentaries, and investor‑education whitepapers.
• Act as the authorial voice for the investment team in external client and prospect meetings, presenting strategic market perspectives, elaborating on investment methodology, and addressing complex portfolio queries.

Required profile

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in macro investment research, portfolio strategy, or multi‑asset investment strategy, with proven expertise in global and China macroeconomics.
• Bachelor’s degree with a strong academic record; an advanced degree in Economics, Finance, or a quantitative discipline is highly desirable.
• Deep passion for fundamental economics, strong analytical capabilities, and systematic thinking.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; ability to synthesize complex quantitative and macro concepts into clear, compelling narratives for sophisticated institutional clients.
• High degree of common sense, problem‑solving skills, integrity, and comfort giving and receiving open feedback in an idea‑meritocratic environment.
• Fluency in both Mandarin Chinese and English.
