Assistant Chemist – Alkoxylation

About the role

The Assistant Chemist will work in the BCCS lab in Jinshan, Shanghai on afternoon to night shifts. The role focuses on operating a 5 L alkoxylation reactor, handling material preparation, reactor DCS control, cleaning, and maintenance while supporting local and regional innovation projects.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and optimize the alkoxylation 5 L reactor, including DCS and PID control.
• Perform material treatment, reactor cleaning, and routine maintenance.
• Execute synthesis projects for alkox surfactants and document results.
• Conduct route‑cause analysis of chemical reactions and prepare supporting reports.
• Coordinate safety activities, prepare HIRA and MOC documents, and act as safety coordinator when required.
• Collaborate with AT/TS, development teams G‑EMH/RA and G‑EMI/AT.

Required profile

• 3‑year college degree or Bachelor in chemistry, industrial/applied chemistry, physical chemistry or related field.
• Minimum 3 years experience in synthesis or process development, preferably in alkoxylation.
• Strong safety awareness and ability to work long‑term afternoon/night shifts.
• Team‑oriented mindset with quick learning ability for synthesis processes.
