Zone Software Architect

About the role

The Zone Software Architect will lead the technical design and evolution of the Zone Control Unit (ZCU) platform. You will be responsible for defining, governing, and delivering a robust end‑to‑end software architecture that meets strict time, quality, and cost targets within the automotive domain.

Key responsibilities

• Define and maintain the ZCU software domain architecture, covering application, service, middleware, and OS layers.
• Make and govern critical technical decisions across the full stack, including AUTOSAR Classic/Adaptive, hypervisor, virtualization, and vehicle‑grade communication protocols.
• Lead architecture reviews, technical evaluations, and trade‑off analyses; identify and mitigate architectural risks.
• Collaborate with vehicle architecture, E/E architecture, cyber‑security, functional safety, and domain teams to ensure interface alignment and service decomposition.
• Steer technical direction in a matrix organization, ensuring conformance and quality across components.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years of embedded software development experience, with at least 3 years as a software domain architect or technical lead for automotive zone controllers.
• Strong analytical and decision‑making skills, able to influence without direct line authority.
• Excellent verbal and written English communication.

Required skills

• AUTOSAR Classic and Adaptive platforms
• Hypervisor and virtualization technologies
• Vehicle communication protocols: CAN, CAN‑FD, LIN, Automotive Ethernet
• Middleware and service frameworks: SOME/IP, SOA, DDS, IPC
• Model‑based and architecture description tools: Enterprise Architect, PREEvision, UML, SysML
• Familiarity with ASPICE, Agile/Scrum processes
• Knowledge of functional safety (ISO 26262) and cyber‑security (ISO 21434) standards is a plus
