System Software Engineer

About the role

Sonos is looking for an Embedded Software Developer to join the newly formed Diagnostics & System Team. You will work on core software and firmware that enable innovative solutions for home and business environments, collaborating with experts across hardware, radio, acoustics, WiFi, and Bluetooth.

Key responsibilities

• Write clear, reliable, and maintainable C/C++ code for embedded systems.
• Design new features and enhance existing technologies while adapting software to new hardware.
• Debug complex low‑level issues across hardware‑software interfaces and in factory/vendor labs.
• Develop and maintain unit tests using GTEST and contribute to continuous integration processes.
• Collaborate with software engineers, product managers, QA, and UX teams using Agile methodologies.

Required profile

• 4+ years of embedded system programming experience in C/C++.
• Strong knowledge of embedded Linux architecture, real‑time operating systems, and hardware communication interfaces (SPI, I2C, I2S, UART, USB, Bluetooth).
• Demonstrated ability to develop performance‑critical software in resource‑constrained environments.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration.
