Substitute Teaching Assistant – Daily On‑Call

About the role

Western Academy of Beijing is seeking enthusiastic individuals to work as Substitute Teaching Assistants on a daily on‑call basis. This ad‑hoc position offers the chance to gain classroom experience, support teachers, and potentially transition to a permanent role.

Key responsibilities

• Assist teachers in planning and delivering small‑group instruction.
• Support students in reading, math, or one‑on‑one activities as directed.
• Apply knowledge of PYP, MYP and DP pedagogy to help deliver best‑practice instruction.
• Manage classroom equipment, materials, bulletin boards and digital resources.
• Supervise students during assemblies, emergency drills, field trips and other school activities.
• Perform administrative tasks such as preparing teaching materials, typing, photocopying, laminating and printing.
• Provide general assistance to teachers within reasonable limits.

Required profile

• Ability to foster positive relationships with staff and students.
• Proficiency in reading, writing and speaking English.
• Initiative and a collaborative mindset.
• High School Certificate – College Degree.
• Basic understanding of teaching practices and classroom support.
