Staff Software Engineer – Tech Lead, Backend

About the role

Conviva is seeking a Tech Lead to own the architecture of its high‑scale, real‑time data platform. You will guide the Beijing engineering team, drive AI‑native platform evolution, and influence technical decisions across distributed systems.

Key responsibilities

• Define and own backend architecture for real‑time analytics, including OLAP and streaming infrastructure (ClickHouse, Kafka, Druid).
• Lead design reviews, make key decisions on distributed systems, and integrate AI/agentic capabilities such as LLM pipelines and intelligent data modeling.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews, design pairing, and knowledge sharing; identify and grow future tech leads.
• Partner with product and cross‑regional teams to translate business needs into scalable solutions and drive end‑to‑end delivery.

Required profile

• BS in Computer Science or equivalent (MS/PhD a plus); 8+ years of software engineering experience, with 5+ years in data platforms or high‑scale backend systems.
• Proven track record of technical leadership and mentoring without formal management authority.
• Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with big data stacks: Spark, ClickHouse, Druid, Kafka.
• Proficiency in Python, Go, Java, Scala, or Rust.
• Practical experience with AI agent systems, LLM pipelines, and AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot).
