About the role

This Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) position sits within ABB's Robotics business, which is preparing for its acquisition by SoftBank Group. The role reports to the Supplier Quality and Development Engineer and focuses on supplier quality management and development for mass-production materials. The post is based in Shanghai.

Key responsibilities

• Lead supplier assessments and drive corrective and preventive actions based on supplier maturity and performance.
• Manage daily operational supplier quality and ensure supplier improvement and development are executed thoroughly.
• Monitor supplier quality performance and lead supplier performance evaluations and quality development activities.
• Identify risks and develop supplier capabilities and performance.
• Respond quickly to internal and external customer complaints and handle non-conformances for mass-production materials.
• Set up and control incoming instructions.
• Ensure compliance with safety, health and environmental regulations.
• Work with cross-functional teams to solve quality, delivery and technical problems.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or above.
• 5 years or more of experience in the Supplier Quality function.
• Fluent English, written and spoken.
• Willingness to travel regularly to suppliers for quality improvement.

Required skills

• Good knowledge of machining, gear and casting categories.
• Familiarity with FMEA, APQP, SPC, QC 7 tools and Lean Six Sigma.
• Teamwork, communication and problem-solving skills.
