Specialized Teaching Assistant – Enriched Inclusion Program

About the role

The Western Academy of Beijing is launching an Enriched Inclusion Program (EIP) to support students with intensive educational needs, including twice‑exceptional learners. The Specialized Teaching Assistant (STA) will work under the direction of the EIP Teacher to help students become independent learners and develop self‑management skills.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate with the EIP Teacher to support EIP students across grades EY‑12.
• Participate in mandatory training for Specialized Teaching Assistants.
• Facilitate inclusion of EIP students in the Least Restrictive Environment.
• Assist with individualized schedules, including SPL, OT, counseling, and small‑group lessons.
• Provide one‑to‑one or small‑group instruction under teacher supervision.
• Communicate student progress to the EIP Teacher.
• Support differentiated instruction in mainstream classes.
• Implement aspects of Individualized Education Plans as directed.
• Maintain ongoing assessment records to track changing student needs.

Required profile

• Flexibility, resourcefulness, and a positive “can‑do” attitude.
• Strong written and verbal communication in English.
• Ability to build collaborative relationships with teachers, parents, and students.
• Commitment to teamwork within support services.
• Post‑secondary diploma.
• Knowledge of teaching and educational practices for students with intensive needs.
