Software Engineer II – Build Global Trade Systems

About the role

Flexport is building the operating system for global trade, and exceptional software development is at the core of this mission. As a Software Engineer II you will own the design and development of key components of our freight forwarding platforms, working on highly available, distributed micro‑service systems that power global logistics.

Key responsibilities

• Build highly available, secure, distributed systems in a micro‑service architecture.
• Design, develop, test and maintain services that model logistics entities such as shipper, cargo, carrier, and documents.
• Develop cutting‑edge infrastructure solutions (IaC, CI/CD, observability) to improve developer experience across the organization.
• Collaborate with product managers and business partners to translate complex trade problems into elegant technical solutions.
• Ship product increments rapidly, deploying to production dozens of times per day while maintaining high quality and reliability.

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of experience with system design and object‑oriented analysis and design patterns.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language such as TypeScript, Ruby, C, C++, Java, or Kotlin.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
