Software Engineer - DFM Tools (PCB Manufacturing)

About the role

KLA, a global leader in electronics for the semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem, is hiring a Software Engineer in Shenzhen. The role designs, develops and maintains core DFM software modules in C/C++ for PCB manufacturing and geometry-processing applications, and works on a large, long-lived production codebase.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain core DFM software modules in C/C++ for PCB manufacturing and geometry-processing applications.
• Build and enhance algorithms for manufacturability analysis, rule checking, compensation, optimization and feature transformation.
• Turn manufacturing knowledge and engineering requirements into robust, scalable and maintainable software solutions.
• Work on geometry-heavy domains such as spacing, clearance, etch compensation, via and pad handling, signal optimization, copper and surface processing.
• Improve performance, stability and software quality in a large, long-lived production codebase.
• Debug complex issues across algorithms, data handling and workflow integration.
• Collaborate with domain experts and product teams to define requirements, validate behavior and deliver production-ready features.
• Take part in code reviews, technical design discussions and modernization of the engineering stack.
• Analyze edge cases and customer-impacting issues with a focus on root-cause analysis and reliable fixes.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics or a related field.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience with strong hands-on C and/or C++.
• Solid foundation in data structures, algorithms and software design for performance-sensitive systems.
• Experience developing or maintaining complex engineering software, algorithmic systems or geometry-intensive applications.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills in large codebases.
• Experience with legacy systems and evolving architectures.
• Strong analytical thinking, ownership, communication skills and ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.

Required skills

• C and/or C++ development.
• Unit testing, regression analysis, code review and controlled release practices.
• Preferred: computational geometry, rule-based processing, CAD/CAM/EDA systems, PCB, DFM or CAM software background.
