Software Engineer I

About the role

Flexport is building the operating system for global trade and needs software engineers to develop highly available, secure, distributed systems. You will work on core products that power freight forwarding, client and shipper applications, and AI‑driven platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and maintain microservice‑based systems that model logistics entities such as shipper, cargo, carrier, container, and documents.
• Collaborate with senior engineers to solve complex business and technical problems and ship code to production multiple times per day.
• Ensure high quality by monitoring metrics, conducting post‑mortems, and applying best practices for testing and operations.

Required profile

• 1+ years of professional software development experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
• Strong ability to learn quickly and take initiative when problems arise.

Required skills

• Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Ruby, C, C++, Java, or Kotlin.
• Experience with microservice architecture, distributed systems, and building highly available services.
