Senior Legal Counsel – Regulatory Law China, Innovative Medicine

About the role

Johnson & Johnson is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to provide regulatory legal support for its Innovative Medicine business in China. The role will guide the company through complex regulatory landscapes, ensuring compliance throughout the product lifecycle and supporting strategic business initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on regulatory requirements affecting innovative medicines from development to market launch.
• Support policy development and engage with external stakeholders to shape the regulatory environment.
• Advise business units on go‑to‑market models, service offerings, and compliance strategies.
• Monitor and interpret changes in Chinese health‑care laws and regulations.
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure alignment with corporate objectives.

Required profile

• Law degree and qualification to practice law in China.
• Extensive experience in regulatory law for pharmaceuticals or medical devices.
• Proven track record of providing legal counsel in a multinational, highly regulated environment.
• Strong understanding of Chinese healthcare regulatory frameworks.
• Ability to work independently and influence senior stakeholders.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of Chinese regulatory statutes governing medicines and medical devices.
• Experience with product‑lifecycle regulatory compliance.
• Excellent analytical and advisory capabilities.
• Fluency in Mandarin and English.
