Legal Counsel – Operations China

About the role

The Legal Counsel will support Operation China by ensuring compliance, enabling growth, and managing business risks from a legal perspective. Working closely with the Group Legal function, the role acts as a second line of defence, challenging policies and processes to protect the business.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and manage business risk through commercial, legal and ethical assessments across sales, distribution, manufacturing, development, IP, product liability, M&A and regulatory matters.
• Draft, review and negotiate complex supply, service and purchase contracts, including EPC contracts, in line with Alfa Laval standards.
• Provide support for compliance areas such as fair competition, export control and sanctions, coordinating with dedicated internal functions.
• Collaborate with Greater China regional in‑house counsel and central groups (IP, Risk & Compliance, Finance, Sustainability).
• Participate in continuous improvement of policies, templates, and supporting tools.
• Deliver training on commercial contracts, corporate governance and compliance; manage disputes and litigations with external counsel.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Law with a professional qualification certificate.
• 7‑8 years of relevant legal experience, preferably in multinational manufacturing companies.
• Proficiency in export control, international sanctions and EU trade compliance laws.
• Fluent oral English with excellent legal English reading and writing skills.
• Ability to independently handle foreign‑related contracts and supply‑chain compliance matters for the manufacturing industry.
