Senior Consultant / Manager – Business Tax – R&D and Government Incentives

About the role

Join Deloitte China’s R&D and Government Incentives practice as a Senior Consultant or Manager. You will help clients identify eligible R&D projects, calculate qualified expenses, and prepare robust documentation to secure government grants, credits, and incentives while ensuring compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Learn and apply relevant tax policies, regulations, and eligibility criteria.
• Interview clients to understand their operations and evaluate R&D projects from a tax perspective.
• Prepare technical descriptions, legislative interpretations, and supporting documentation for R&D and Government Incentive claims.
• Draft advanced incentive applications, perform calculations, and defend claims during tax audits.
• Utilise technology solutions to improve efficiency, transparency, and deliverable quality.
• Develop and document processes for identifying and capturing incentive opportunities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, Food Science or related fields.
• 3–5 years of experience in an R&D department or a technology‑focused government role.
• Strong knowledge of local tax legislation and international tax developments.
• Excellent project‑management and risk‑control abilities.
• Fluent oral and written English.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Programming skills (any language) – preferred.
