R&D Associated Engineer – Medium-Voltage Switch Cabinets

About the role

ABB is looking for an R&D Associated Engineer in Xiamen, reporting to the R&D Team Leader. The role covers the research and development of switch cabinets for medium-voltage distribution systems, focusing on their structure and insulation design.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out computer-aided design analysis and calculations during R&D, such as mechanical or electric field simulations, to ensure design quality.
• Use DFA/DFM tools for manufacturing and assembly design.
• Coordinate and resolve problems arising during testing of medium-voltage switch cabinets so products pass the tests.
• Provide technical support for all factory work.

Required profile

• Masters' degree or above in Electrical Engineering and Automation (High Voltage Electrical Appliances, High Voltage Insulation Technology or Power Electronics preferred) or Mechanical Design.
• Strong learning ability, communication skills and stress resistance.
• Fluent English, including spoken English.

Required skills

• Familiarity with SolidWorks design software.
• Simulation experience in insulation, mechanics or similar fields is preferred.
• Proficiency in computer office software.
