Medical Director - ICON China

About the role

ICON Strategic Solutions is hiring a Medical Director in Beijing. Working in a sponsor-dedicated model, you will drive medical initiatives within project teams, guide strategic direction and decision-making, and give expert medical and scientific guidance using therapeutic expertise. ICON is described as the world's largest FSP organisation with over 90 sponsor partnerships.

Key responsibilities

• Lead medical affairs delivery across your portfolio, setting standards and developing your team.
• Provide strategic medical leadership and guidance on project teams.
• Offer expert medical and scientific consultation throughout project lifecycles.
• Ensure compliance with ethical, legal and regulatory standards in medical and safety monitoring activities.
• Represent the Medical Affairs Department in business development initiatives.
• Provide operational oversight within the Medical Affairs Department as needed.

Required profile

• Significant medical affairs experience, with a track record of building high-performing teams and delivering results.
• Medical degree (MD or equivalent); specialization in a relevant therapeutic area preferred.
• Proven track record of medical leadership and consultation in pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries.
• Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and ethical standards in clinical research.
• Demonstrated ability to provide operational management in the absence of senior management.
• Willingness to travel approximately 10% of the time.
• Legal right to work in the country where the role is based.
