High School Learning Support Teacher

About the role

The High School Learning Support Teacher works under the HS Learning Support Coordinator and the Head of Department for Learning Support to provide targeted assistance to students identified through the Child Study team process. The role combines in‑class support, pull‑out programmes, and collaborative planning with other teachers.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver in‑class and pull‑out learning support for high‑school students.
• Collaborate with teachers during planning sessions to adapt lessons.
• Maintain regular communication with parents and attend parent‑teacher conferences.
• Contribute to extra‑curricular activities and overall school development.
• Document student progress and share insights with the Learning Support team.

Required profile

• Ability to build effective relationships with staff, students, and parents.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, especially for ESOL families.
• Empathy for second‑language acquisition and experience working with less‑able learners.
• Proficiency in ICT tools for instructional purposes.
• Understanding of inquiry‑based teaching, special‑education theory, collaborative planning, and differentiation strategies.
