Head of Medical Excellence

About the role

Roche is looking for a Head of Medical Excellence in Shanghai. The role leads the Medical Affairs department, aligns its strategy and operations with the business, and builds the capabilities of the medical excellence team. Travel is limited to less than 25%.

Key responsibilities

• Drive strategic and organizational alignment: coordinate goals and priorities for Medical Affairs, set up a structure for co-creation and co-execution of WBO, and develop the team's vision and strategic initiatives.
• Lead cross-therapeutic area and function programs, and work across the wider organization to define excellent ways of working and process workflows.
• Enable a closed-loop management approach and develop an integrated medical plan that prioritizes tasks and ensures timely delivery.
• Oversee the performance of Medical Affairs, including the development and delivery of a medical dashboard and metrics, with timely collection, reporting and interpretation.
• Organize regular meetings and activities, and gather internal and external information for the Medical Affairs Head to support business decisions and presentations.
• Build Medical Affairs competencies through professional development and training, and provide coaching and feedback to team members.

Required profile

• Master's degree or above in Medical, R&D, Marketing, Access or Corporate Strategy, in a pharmaceutical or related industry; MBA or top consulting background is a plus.
• Experience in people leadership.
• Ability to influence and manage in a matrix organization, build an effective team and handle difficult people issues.

Required skills

• Excellent verbal and written communication in Mandarin and English.
• Strategic agility, strong analytical capability and project management track record.
• High learning agility, able to work under pressure and collaborate across functions.
