Functional Safety Software Architect

About the role

Qualcomm’s Automotive team is looking for a Functional Safety Software Architect to lead safety initiatives for complex SoC software in next‑generation automotive solutions. The role involves defining safety concepts, architectures and requirements while ensuring compliance with ISO 26262 and ASPICE standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead functional safety activities for automotive SoC software projects.
• Define and maintain safety concepts, architectures and software safety requirements.
• Collaborate with development teams, partners, customers and test/integration groups on safety tasks.
• Participate in external safety audits, customer discussions and corrective‑action processes.
• Drive gap‑closure activities and enhance software processes to meet safety standards.
• Work with the software quality team to ensure adherence to ISO 26262 and ASPICE.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
• 5–10 years of embedded software experience in the automotive domain.
• At least 2 years of hands‑on experience with ISO 26262 Part 6.
• Proven experience in functional safety software architecture and safety requirement definition.
• Strong background in safety analysis methods such as FMEA, DFA and FTA.
