Faculty Positions in Physics – Institute of Physics, CAS

About the role

The Institute of Physics (IOP) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences is seeking outstanding scholars to join its faculty across a range of seniority levels, from junior tenure‑track Assistant Professors to senior Full Professors. Successful candidates will lead independent research programs in condensed‑matter, optical, atomic, plasma, soft‑matter, or computational physics and contribute to the institute’s rapid expansion.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and lead an independent, internationally recognized research program.
• Secure research funding from national and international sources.
• Publish high‑impact scientific papers and present at conferences.
• Supervise graduate students, post‑doctoral researchers, and technical staff.
• Collaborate with domestic and overseas research groups.
• Participate in teaching and curriculum development as required.

Required profile

• PhD in physics or a closely related discipline from a well‑known university or research institute.
• Significant scientific or technological achievements demonstrated by publications, patents, or major project contributions.
• For Tenure‑Track Associate Professors – Class A: preferably under 40 years old; Class B: preferably under 35 years old.
• For Key Technologists: preferably under 40 years old.
• Strong leadership potential and ability to work in an international, multicultural environment.
