Early Development Lead Medical Director, Non-oncology

About the role

Roche's China Early Development (ED) Center of Excellence accelerates the global early development of transformative medicines and integrates China into global early development programs alongside Roche Pharma Research and Early Development, Genentech Research and Early Development and product development teams. This position leads early development programs in immunology, neurology, CVRM and ophthalmology as a clinical lead within Roche Product Development China.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to and influence global asset strategy and early development CDP as a member of global asset teams
• Identify opportunities to accelerate and optimize global ED CDP, leveraging China's expertise, experience, speed and scale
• Lead the China cross-functional team in evaluating China's entry into global ED programs or China-first trials from strategic, scientific, regulatory and operational perspectives
• Drive innovative trial design and conduct China-first clinical trials with global early development experts
• Serve as Medical Monitor for China ED clinical trials and as scientific point of contact for global non-oncology asset teams
• Engage China TAEs and internal and external stakeholders, and mentor junior medical directors

Required profile

• MD, or Bachelor/Master of Clinical Medicine with at least 3 years of post-graduation clinical practice; immunology expertise preferred
• Minimum 5 years of biopharmaceutical experience and extensive early development experience; immunology preferred
• Hands-on experience developing early development CDP, designing and running early development trials, working with health authorities, investigators and sites, and interpreting trial data
• Good understanding of global development guidelines and regulations, including CDE, FDA and EMEA
• Excellent written and verbal English, able to present complex concepts clearly to global teams and stakeholders
• Collaborative, able to influence without authority
