Drive Systems FUSA System Engineer

About the role

The Drive Systems FUSA System Engineer will lead the development and validation of functional safety concepts for automotive drivetrain systems. This role ensures that safety requirements are correctly defined, implemented, and verified across global projects, with a focus on the Chinese market.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and validate functional safety concepts and requirements for drivetrain systems.
• Conduct Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment (HARA) and break down system‑level requirements.
• Specify safety goals and create safety cases for release.
• Perform verification and validation activities to confirm correct implementation of safety requirements.
• Act as the central contact for functional safety topics in global and China‑specific projects.
• Support development, production, and after‑sales teams in solving safety‑related issues.
• Collaborate with Mercedes‑Benz R&D teams in China, Germany, India, plants, and external suppliers.
• Define technical specifications for future drivetrain software functions.

Required profile

• Degree in Automotive Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology or a related field.
• 3‑5 years of experience in functional safety at an OEM or supplier.
• Hands‑on experience with functional safety in drive systems and ISO 26262 compliance.
• Fluent English; German is a plus.
• Familiarity with automotive system architectures, safety lifecycle, and hazard analysis.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, safety analysis software and requirements‑management tools.
