Director for Residence Life

About the role

The Director for Residence Life is a live‑in, 12‑month professional position within the Office of Student Life at Schwarzman College, Tsinghua University. Reporting to the Chief Student Affairs Officer, the role oversees the residential experience of 150 graduate scholars from 43 countries.

Key responsibilities

• Communicate with and advise scholars on daily‑life issues, health concerns, cultural dynamics, and conflict resolution.
• Maintain and share up‑to‑date resource lists for hospitals, clinics, pharmacies, and other health services for both Chinese and international students.
• Coordinate student health and safety protocols and manage the student conduct process.
• Plan and execute housing assignments, check‑out procedures, and liaise with facilities for maintenance, cleaning, and turnover.
• Select, train, and supervise 3‑4 Senior Scholars (program alumni) to support residential operations.

Required profile

• Proven experience in student affairs, residential life, or campus housing management.
• Strong interpersonal skills to support scholars’ physical, emotional, and mental well‑being.
• Ability to work collaboratively with facilities, health services, and senior student staff.
• Willingness to reside on‑site for the duration of the appointment.
