Data Scientist – Power Trading

About the role

We are looking for a Data Scientist to strengthen the analytical capability of our Power Trading function. The role bridges trading operations, settlement data, market fundamentals and risk controls, delivering auditable, data‑driven insights that directly improve daily trading management.

Key responsibilities

• Own the analytical data layer for contracts, spot trades, generation, market prices, settlements and invoices; define standards, validation rules and reconciliation checks.
• Investigate data breaks and settlement variances with traders and external providers, maintaining a clear audit trail from source data to management reports.
• Automate data collection, cleaning, settlement reconciliation and reporting workflows while preserving manual oversight where needed.
• Produce regular performance attribution analyses, decompose outcomes into controllable and non‑controllable drivers and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
• Create and maintain a structured decision log linking market context, forecasts, positions, trader rationale and outcomes; analyse patterns to develop repeatable playbooks.
• Identify and implement practical AI use cases such as document extraction, policy retrieval, exception detection, report drafting and decision‑log summarisation.

Required profile

• Strong analytical mindset with experience in power or energy trading environments.
• Ability to work closely with traders, explain results clearly and capture decision rationale.
• Proven track record of building auditable data pipelines and driving operational discipline.
• Excellent communication skills to turn analytical insights into concrete management actions.
