Customer Engineer (C1) – Field Service Role

About the role

Applied Materials is a global leader in materials science and engineering solutions for semiconductor and advanced display technologies. As a Customer Engineer (C1) you will serve as the direct liaison with customers, installing, maintaining, and upgrading sophisticated equipment in Wuxi, China.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with senior field service engineers to install, maintain, and upgrade customer equipment.
• Use digital analytics and basic diagnostic techniques to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic, and gas systems (training provided).
• Coordinate and communicate directly with customers to ensure smooth operations.
• Fulfill additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Associate degree, military technical training, field service experience, or trade certification.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.
• Experience diagnosing and resolving basic technical challenges.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a passport for travel.
• Ability to meet on‑site safety, environmental, and COVID‑19 protocols.
• Preferred: 1–2 years of customer/field service experience and knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum, or thermodynamics.
