Commissioning Editor – Collections Management and Acquisition

About the role

The Commissioning Editor will drive the growth of commissioned content across Springer Nature journals by creating and managing Topical Collections. Working closely with editorial boards, data scientists, and marketing teams, the role blends market intelligence with editorial expertise to attract high‑quality research.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and implement commissioning strategies for key journals, focusing on business development and market intelligence.
• Identify and select collection topics using data analysis tools for market share and competitor insights.
• Recruit and engage Guest Editors and authors, fostering collaborations with leading researchers.
• Manage the collection pipeline to meet ambitious publication targets, overseeing project timelines and publishing workflows.
• Define and apply best practices throughout the collections lifecycle to ensure operational excellence.
• Build and leverage relationships with internal and external editorial communities.
