Associate or Senior Editor – Human Behaviour, Nature Communications

About the role

Springer Nature is seeking an Associate or Senior Editor to join the Human Behaviour team of Nature Communications, a leading multidisciplinary open‑access journal. The role is ideal for scientists with a strong background in political science, economics or behavioural economics who want to shape the publication of high‑impact research.

Key responsibilities

• Handle original research submissions, assess manuscripts and oversee peer‑review processes.
• Make well‑reasoned editorial decisions based on expert advice and scientific merit.
• Determine the representation of human‑behaviour research within the journal.
• Liaise with editors across the Nature portfolio and with international experts.
• Attend conferences and visit research institutions to stay connected with the scientific community.

Required profile

• PhD (or equivalent) in political science, economics (especially behavioural economics) or a closely related discipline.
• Broad understanding of recent trends and developments in the field.
• Passion for science, strong communication skills and fluency in English.
• Ability to evaluate novelty, context and implications of interdisciplinary research.
• Willingness to travel internationally and engage with researchers.
• Editorial experience is not mandatory; significant experience may lead to a Senior Editor appointment.
