China Legal Counsel

About the role

This role reports to HQ Legal in London and serves as an independent legal advisor for all transactions and key projects across the Greater China region. You will support the senior governance professional, participate in corporate deals and commercial initiatives, ensure legal compliance, and help expand the company's business in China.

Key responsibilities

• Provide autonomous legal services to internal stakeholders, including drafting, negotiating and reviewing a wide range of contracts and documents.
• Maintain Farfetch China’s value‑added tele‑community license and file monthly and annual reports with the local authority.
• Manage corporate governance matters for all Farfetch legal entities in China, including registrations, licenses, annual filings, board resolutions and filings with government bodies.
• Support data‑protection activities: update privacy policies, conduct data‑impact assessments and advise the business on data‑compliance issues.
• Oversee legal administration, including governance of company seals, contract management system maintenance and approval/signing processes.
• Participate in projects and commercial transactions, coordinate legal proceedings, and liaise with external counsel as required.
• Perform any additional legal work assigned by Group Legal.

Required profile

• Law degree from an accredited institution in a common‑law jurisdiction.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in the legal department of a multinational corporation or a law firm.
• Significant experience supporting businesses in Greater China with strong corporate advisory and complex commercial agreement drafting/negotiation skills.
• Familiarity with employment law, data privacy, intellectual property and regulatory compliance.
• Exceptional bilingual English‑Chinese drafting, negotiation and communication abilities.
• Proactive, adaptable, detail‑oriented and able to balance legal risk with business needs.
