Chief Actuary

About the role

The Chief Actuary will lead China entity reserving and pricing activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory and group reporting requirements while supporting the company's solvency and profitability goals.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee monthly, quarterly and annual reserving processes and produce reports for regulators and the Zurich Group.
• Price and review premium rate tables for product filings.
• Maintain and analyse China RBC/RBRM metrics, providing business advice to management.
• Forecast financial loss and collateral needs, analysing loss ratio trends.
• Conduct liability cash‑flow analysis for group ALM management.
• Develop reserving and risk‑management policies and lead reserve committee meetings.
• Coordinate with claims to ensure appropriate reserve set‑up and support new portfolio assessments.

Required profile

• Qualified actuary with 6‑10 years of actuarial experience in insurance, consulting or audit.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS 17 and China P&C regulatory environment.
• Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Basic programming skills such as VBA and SAS.
