Assistant Manager – Technical Development (Guangzhou)

About the role

The Assistant Manager, Technical Development will support BASF's Engineering Plastics business in South China by providing technical advisory services, optimizing material processing, and driving product and market development. The role combines hands‑on engineering with customer‑focused solutions to ensure high‑quality part performance.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical advice on part design, processing, tooling and material selection to achieve excellent part quality for customers.
• Optimize product and material processing through on‑site troubleshooting and validation.
• Contribute to business development, product/process development, and sales strategy implementation in China.
• Support application development and product launch initiatives in collaboration with commercial teams.
• Manage project commercialization, track competitive technologies, and maintain market development updates.
• Work closely with strategic accounts to identify material needs and drive material development through internal phase‑gate processes.

Required profile

• Technical background in engineering plastics with experience in part design, processing and tooling.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot material issues at customer sites.
• Strong orientation toward business development and customer intimacy.
• Experience collaborating with cross‑functional teams such as R&D, sales, and key account management.
