Software Tester (QA/QC)

About the role

The United Nations Office of Information and Communications Technology (OICT) is seeking a Software Tester (QA/QC) on a 6‑month consultancy basis in Deqing, Zhejiang, China. The role will support the quality assurance and control of OICT’s enterprise applications, ensuring they meet the organisation’s standards for reliability, security and performance.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop test plans, test cases and test scripts for assigned modules.
• Create automation scripts (using Cypress or Playwright) to streamline repetitive validation tasks.
• Execute functional, regression, smoke, sanity and black‑box testing on web and mobile applications across multiple browsers and devices.
• Validate functional and technical requirements during system and user acceptance testing.
• Identify, create and manage test data for System Integration Testing (SIT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
• Document test results, track defects and maintain version control using Git.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Mathematics, Statistics or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of hands‑on QA experience with web and mobile applications.
• Proven experience with automation tools, preferably Cypress or Playwright.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, take ownership and meet agreed timelines.
• Authorization to work in China.
