Senior Technical Artist – Project R.I.S.E

About the role

Supercell Shanghai is looking for a Senior Technical Artist to lead the visual pipeline on Project R.I.S.E. You will act as the bridge between art and engineering, ensuring the game looks great while running smoothly on mobile devices.

Key responsibilities

• Own the shader and material library, authoring shaders and designing a master‑material architecture that balances visual fidelity with performance.
• Build and maintain tools for artists, including DCC scripts, engine editor extensions, one‑click export pipelines and automated asset validation.
• Collaborate with the art director to define lighting, post‑process templates and visual style guidelines.
• Profile builds on real phones, diagnose thermal or performance issues, and create LOD and quality‑tier systems for a range of devices.
• Prototype risky visual ideas, evaluate feasibility against frame‑budget constraints, and communicate technical limits to artists and programmers.

Required profile

• 8+ years of experience in games with a strong technical art focus.
• Hands‑on expertise in shader authoring (HLSL, Unreal material graph) and scripting (Python, Blueprint, C++).
• Deep understanding of the rendering pipeline, frame budgeting and Unreal Engine content costs.
• Fluency with major DCC tools such as Maya, Blender, Houdini and Substance.
• Proactive problem‑solver who can translate artistic intent into technical solutions and vice‑versa.
