Senior Principal Field Applications Engineer

About the role

NXP is looking for a Senior Principal Field Applications Engineer (FAE) in Shanghai (Pudong). The role supports NXP's application processors, including the i.MX and S32G product families, as well as AI accelerators and related solutions. The engineer drives demand creation and customer design-in activities in close collaboration with the business lines, sales and marketing teams, and works with the wider NXP technical community on customer issues and future roadmaps.

Key responsibilities

• Work with sales and marketing teams to promote NXP MPU/SoC products and vertical-market solutions to customers.
• Serve as the primary technical point of contact and coordinate technical projects to ensure successful execution.
• Provide technical support throughout the customer product design and development cycle.
• Identify, initiate and develop internal technical proofs of concept to demonstrate new technologies, use cases and solution opportunities.
• Support customer architecture reviews, system-level debugging, performance optimization and issue resolution.
• Gather customer requirements and market feedback and communicate them to product and business teams.

Required profile

• Master's or doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline.
• Strong English communication skills, spoken and written.
• Strong customer-facing, communication, problem-solving and project coordination skills.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of operating systems, with hands-on experience in Linux kernel, device driver and BSP development.
• Experience with ARM Cortex-A, Cortex-M or Cortex-R processors or heterogeneous computing platforms.
• Solid experience in embedded hardware and software development.
• Experience with Android or QNX, and with AUTOSAR, MCAL and functional safety, is a plus.
