System Architect - MPU & MCU

About the role

NXP is looking for a System Architect in Shanghai (Pudong) to define the system and product architecture for its microprocessor and microcontroller portfolio. The role works across hardware and software engineering teams on power-efficient heterogeneous computing, media processing and communication for industrial and automotive applications.

Key responsibilities

• Define and develop MPU and MCU system architecture aligned with market trends and industry standards
• Work with product marketing to turn customer needs into specifications for Industrial IoT, secure connected edge computing and automotive products
• Design scalable computing architectures, including multi-core processing and memory hierarchy
• Own key performance indicators and drive program optimization
• Integrate security mechanisms such as secure boot, cryptographic accelerators and trusted execution environments
• Collaborate with software, hardware and firmware teams on system-level integration of MCU components
• Optimize performance, energy efficiency and thermal management while keeping reliability and scalability
• Contribute to industry standards and define architectural guidelines, best practices and documentation

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field
• 10 years or more of relevant experience
• Experience with use-case analysis and decomposition
• Proven experience in microprocessor and microcontroller architecture, SoC architecture and system-level integration
• Experience in product development processes

Required skills

• Strong understanding of CPU cores, DSP, memory management and peripheral integration
• System performance optimization, low-power design and real-time processing
• Familiarity with Linux, Zephyr, Free RTOS or similar operating systems
• Familiarity with high-speed interconnects (e.g. AXI), memory architectures and bus protocols
• Strong collaboration across silicon, software, firmware and board design teams, and strong multi-national collaboration
