Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor or Professor in Tourism Management

About the role

Lead internationally focused tourism teaching, supervision and research in Weihai, China. The position involves delivering English‑language PhD courses, supervising doctoral candidates and contributing to a joint University of Waikato–Shandong University research partnership.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver lectures and seminars in Tourism Management to PhD students taught in English.
• Supervise and mentor doctoral candidates through their research projects.
• Develop and update curriculum in line with international standards.
• Conduct high‑quality research, publish in reputable journals and attract external funding.
• Participate in programme administration, accreditation and joint‑university initiatives.
• Provide academic leadership, mentoring and policy input appropriate to the appointed seniority level.

Required profile

• PhD in Tourism Management or a closely related discipline.
• Proven experience teaching English‑medium courses to non‑native speakers.
• Established record of scholarly publications.
• Understanding of Chinese culture and context is an advantage.
• For Senior Lecturer: internationally recognised research profile and ability to secure funding.
• For Associate Professor: sustained excellence in research, teaching and supervision, plus leadership experience.
• For Professor: distinguished international reputation, strong academic leadership and external engagement.
